According to 2 Corinthians 5:17, after someone truly gets saved, they become a "NEW creature in Christ", and "old things are passed away; behold, all things are become NEW."

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a NEW creature: old things are passed away; behold, ALL things are become NEW." 2 Corinthians 5:17

When a person truly gets saved, "old things are passed away; behold, ALL things are become NEW" — and that includes your MUSIC.

Not only does it include your music — but get this — the VERY FIRST THING God makes NEW when a person gets saved is their MUSIC?

1 I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
3 And he hath put a NEW SONG in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.
Psalms 40:1-3

Notice, He [God] "put a NEW SONG in my mouth, even praise unto our God" It's not something YOU do. It’s not something YOU "work up". It's not something YOU even pray for — GOD does. GOD puts it in you when you get saved! It's the direct result of getting saved!

Notice also, what Gods specifically calls it — a "NEW SONG" — not the old songs you've been singing. No. These songs are completely different. They are not "re-made", "re-cycled", "modified" oldies. No. These songs are NEW SONGS. Only a saved person with that NEW SONG knows what I'm talking about. Only a truly, born-again, can honestly sing these NEW SONGS unto the LORD. A lost person may "fake it" for a season, but a truly, saved person will continually and joyfully sing these "God-put", NEW SONGS. It will be their joy and privilege.

Our music is obviously very important to the Lord — else He would not have made it the first thing He made "NEW".

Not only that. . . there must be something very important about that "NEW SONG" — the Lord mentions that "NEW SONG" 9 times in scripture:

"Sing unto him a NEW SONG; play skilfully with a loud noise." Psalms 33:3

"And he hath put a NEW SONG in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD." Psalms 40:3

"O sing unto the LORD a NEW SONG: sing unto the LORD, all the earth." Psalms 96:1

"O sing unto the LORD a NEW SONG; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory." Psalms 98:1

"I will sing a NEW SONG unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee." Psalms 144:9

"Praise ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD a NEW SONG, and his praise in the congregation of saints." Psalms 149:1

"Sing unto the LORD a NEW SONG, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof." Isaiah 42:10

"And they sung a NEW SONG, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;" Revelation 5:9

I do not understand — WHY OR HOW — a truly, saved person would NOT want to sing about the Lord Jesus Christ. Is it "scriptually" possible for someone that really believes Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, loved them so much, He died such a cruel death on the cross of Calvary and NOT want to praise Him — for all eternity?

The great musician David, wrote in the book of Psalms:

The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and WITH MY SONG will I praise him. Psalms 28:7

Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and MY SONG; he also is become my salvation. Isaiah 12:2

Before I got saved, I loved rock music. I can't believe anyone loved rock music more than me. I played rock guitar. I went to all the concerts. Rock music was my god, my best friend, my dream — rock music was my life. But when I got saved, God put in me "a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God"! As much as I loved to play and sing rock music, I now desired to praise my God for saving my soul! I had no desire to play and listen to the "world's rock music". I’ve been saved for over 20 years and that wonderful "God-put" desire to sing "a new song. . . even praise unto our God" has only grown STRONGER.

The German-reformer-musician, Martin Luther, knew about that "God-put" NEW SONG:

"We should praise God with both word and music, namely by proclaiming [the Word of God] through music. . .He who believes earnestly cannot be quiet about it. But he must gladly and willingly sing and speak about it so that others may come and hear it. And whoever does NOT want to sing and speak of it shows that he does not believe it." (Don Cusic, The Sound of Light, p. 15)
